Proteros Payment System Framework

Functional testing at any level, component, system integration or user acceptance, is by its very nature labour intensive, irrespective of whether the test execution is manual or automated. Labour intensive tasks are ones which eat at the bottom-line and require the most planning in order to ensure resources are utilised as efficiently as possible so as to minimise these costs.

Payment systems are a vital part of the financial infrastructure but they are complicated and contain many internal and external dependencies. Their efficient functioning, allowing transactions to be completed safely and on time, makes a key contribution to overall economic performance of an organisation. The stability and efficiency of payment systems requires continuous monitoring and testing.

Currently, many financial organisations use specialist teams to test each of their payment systems in isolation and so do lack an integrated testing strategy. This means that each team is an expert in one system but cannot be deployed across other payment systems your organisation may have. Utilising a pool of resources, all conversant with one, unified set of payment test tools, would allow your organisation to make efficient use of its testing resources and as such save time and reduce bottom-line costs.

The Proteros Payment System Framework (PSF) provides a unified platform that allows testers to create their functional test data using a common set of tools which can then be used to execute payment simulations relevant to the payment system under test. The PSF for your organisation could include payment cards (ISO8583 and APACS) , ATMs, PoS terminals, BACS, SWIFT, ForEx and many other financial messaging systems.

There is no longer the need to have specialist teams dedicated to a single payment system, as it is now possible to have a resource pool of testers, all familiar with one unified payment testing tool, who are able to be deployed as and when they are required across your organisation. Subject matter experts will always be required but the need to have teams of subject matter experts is no longer necessary.
