The International Forecourt Standards Forum (IFSF) is a forum of international petroleum retailers with the common objective of harmonisation of equipment interconnectivity and communication standards for use in the Petroleum Retail Business. The ISO-8583 protocol has formed the foundation from which the IFSF has standardised its Point-of-Sale (POS) devices in communicating with merchant acquirers or front-end-processors (FEP).
